Snow in Ottawa

I was a bit slow on uploading photos from Ottawa so here are some photos from the weekend. They have crazy amounts of snow in Ottawa. At Chris and Tracy’s place it’s almost pointless to have a fence when the snow is just as high as it:

The fence becomes useless with this much snow

And we got to make good use of the 4 wheel drive on the RAV4:

Rachel was shaking her head when I got excited over taking pictures of the black squirrels. I really wish I didn’t lose focus on the squirrel when it tried to jump on the shed roof. There was so much snow up there that the squirrel fell to the ground and got covered by a large lump of snow. Priceless.

Back in Montreal

Well I’m back in Montreal for the final 2 months of Rachel’s masters program. I took off on Friday after work and flew to Ottawa since Rach was finishing up her last rotation there. She has been in Ottawa for all of February staying at Chris and Tracy’s house.

We lived it up on Saturday night and went out for New Orleans food. We had this big plate of oysters as an appetizer. I really wish I had my camera there to take a picture of the “Giant Sea Angel” oyster. I ordered the big sea food platter with crab, jumbo shrimp and a bunch of other things I’m not sure what they were. We had a big variety of hot sauces to put on all the seafood so whenever anything tasted gross my technique involved putting on their hottest sauce to mask any gross flavors.

After our outing at Big Daddys we went to go see The Deep Dark Woods (a band from Saskatoon) perform at a local bar in Ottawa.

On Sunday we went back to The Works (the gourmet burger joint in Ottawa) for one of my favorite burgers and milkshakes. I think any time I’m in Ottawa I will be making a stop to this place. I think I might like it more than Fudd’s now which is not cool since I won’t be able to goto The Works all the time soon.

For this week I’m taking Friday off (my first vacation day in a quite some time) and heading to Toronto to watch a Raptor’s game.
