If I didn’t have shingles I’d throw my underwear at you

“If I didn’t have shingles I’d throw my underwear at you” – Michelle swooning to Hemant playing on the drums in Rock Band. The line was too good not to use as the title for the rock band post.

On Friday Hemant, Gordo and I drove around Saskatoon looking for Rock Band and eventually found 1 copy at Toys R Us. Setting up the whole thing was quite the ordeal. I think Hemant managed to cook supper for everyone by the time I had everything set up. Every little piece was wrapped in plastic, cardboard, plastic, twist ties, more plastic, more cardboard and then the big box it came in. The Rock Band guitar initially seemed better than the old guitar hero 2 guitar but as soon as I used the old GH2 one I missed the clicky feel of it. The drums were way more difficult than I imagined but they were still a lot of fun. Everyone took turns playing drums and guitar but not many were brave enough to sing. Gordo had some liquid influence that helped him serenade us most of the night.

The band rocking out

We decided our band name should be “The Geeklings“.  I think we ended the evening with 500+ fans that revered our epic rocking abilities.  For some reason the game liked to choose the weezer song over and over again.  Eventually we gave in and just used the cheat code to unlock all the songs.  Rock Band is a pretty awesome party game (we had 10 people alternating in and out).  I think everyone had a good time with it.  We recorded a few videos of the experience but we haven’t convinced all parties involved to sign the release form to put it online.  If it ever does find it’s way online prepare yourself for some high quality singing, shingles, and quality lyrics like “red, red, greeeen, blueeee, greeen”.  You can check out all the photos on Hemant’s flickr pageSay it Ain’t So.

Overheard in Saskatoon

Was in Superstore with The Dustin when we walked by this guy talking to some chick.

Guy: So how’s it going?

Chick:  Good, good.  My Dad just passed away.

I wonder what a bad day is like for her?

Me blog you long time. Me so lazy.

I still haven’t been doing very much over the last month or so. Christmas has come and gone. We spent the days before xmas at my parents house this year. Most of our time was taken up playing a new board game called Ra. My family seemed to like it quite a bit, likely because I lost a bunch. Christmas day was spent at the Webster house. It’s always a special event with the stockings here. I should have got some better pictures but here are 2 you can check out.

The stocking overflow

The girls stockings

Notice how the stockings are overflowing with stuff. I managed to get myself out of stocking duty when Christmas is at the Webster’s place. Next year I’ll have to step up to the plate and attempt to satisfy Rachel’s stocking expectations.

Like any Christmas I gorged on food as much as possible. I think my metabolism is still doing it’s job so I continued to eat more than I should, like 3 cup cakes at once…

I'm stuffing my face with 3 cup cakes

For New Years I was put through the Cranium gauntlet. I dislike being put on the spot as my mind goes completely blank. The men’s team ended up losing the game, likely do to my inability to spell simple words backwards (words like ‘civic’) seconds after yelling at Sean at how simple it will be. If I don’t have to play Cranium for a whole year I will count myself lucky.

I’m back in Saskatoon until the end of February now. I plan on keeping myself busy with squash a few times a week (give me a shout if you want to jump in our games). I was going to do some more ultimate but I’m much to lazy to start playing games at 11:30pm.

So that’s about it. If you are an Apple fan don’t forget Macworld 2008 is tomorrow. It starts at 11am real time.
