Coming home soon
Some people mention that I haven’t updated my blog very much lately. Well, you remember when Jerry Seinfeld finished his TV show and then a few years later he came on Letterman. He starts off with “What have I been doing? <pause> Nothing.” (thanks to youtube you can experience this short clip). This pretty much sums it up for me.
Rachel’s parents were up visiting us for a week. They toured Quebec City, Ottawa and Montreal on their own. The last day they were here Rachel and her Mom wanted to go shopping so Steve and I decided we should just goto the theater while they shopped (best idea ever). We checked out Beowulf in IMAX 3d which was worth the $15 to get in. Before the movie started playing I was dissing IMAX and how it wasn’t anything special. After Beowulf we went to No Country for Old Men in a normal theater and it seemed small and the sound was weak. I guess IMAX is more impressive than I thought. I was surprised I didn’t mind No Country for Old Men but it will definitely take a special type of person to enjoy that one.
Before each of these movies we saw all the same previews, all of which were in French. Since I don’t really understand any French I found myself making up words for when people were talking. There was this one commercial (which I thought was a trailer for a movie) which starts off with this guy screaming at his wife (I assumed). I figured he was saying “GIVE ME BACK MY CHEERIOS”. The wife ends up running to the kitchen and the man yells again, “GIVE ME BACK MY CHEERIOS” and then throws the wife to the ground. At this point I realized that it wasn’t a trailer for a movie. The screen goes black and says in French that spousal abuse is a crime. So ya, I guess I was way off on the Cheerios thing.
Rach and I have a little more than a week in Montreal before we both head home to Saskatoon for awhile. I’ll be back until the end of February this time. It would be swell if all the cold weather was done by December 15.

That Cheerios bit is solid.
