The boring catch-up post
This is bound to be a boring post. I’m going to attempt to sum up my last few weeks in Saskatoon.
Week 1
For my weekly lunch I was convinced to goto Gibson’s on 8th street for some fish and chips. I don’t think I’ve ever actually ordered fish and chips anywhere so I figured that I should give it a try. It was super greasy food which I wasn’t a big fan of. I’m not that excited to go again but apparently it’s the place to go if you like fish and chips (and grease). I also booked a monthly squash event with Devin and Brian (from work). It was pretty awesome to play again (which means I won). I think squash is my favorite sport. On Friday Hemant convinced me to goto 28 Weeks Later (review on his blog) which I can’t say I liked very much. My clever line was “28 weeks later is about the time you should consider actually watching this movie.”
Week 2
This week started off with Mother’s day. Rach gave me instructions for gifts to get for our Moms since she is still in Victoria. I’m pretty sure Renny and I forget any important event so it’s good we have someone around telling us what to do. I drove into Waldheim to visit my Mom who was visiting her Mom. I went to some little restaurant called Black Top something and ordered steak since that was suppose to be the highlight of this place. I think I’ll stick with The Keg. I finally got my haircut this week too. I probably should have went a lot sooner but my hairdresser only takes cash/debit and I didn’t have any cash available. The 15th was pay day so I was able to take out some money.
I managed to keep my long weekend completely free of plans. I watched a bunch of movies: Stranger Than Fiction – pretty good, The Groomsmen – not good and Antitrust (pretty awesome though I had seen it before). I spent most of Saturday and Sunday playing through Marvel Ultimate Alliance with Hemant and Chris. The plan was to finish the game on the weekend. It ended up taking about 10 hours to destroy Dr. Doom. The game was very repetitive and hence not very good. I ate pretty horrible the whole weekend. I helped consume 3 bags of chips, had at least 10 cookies, pizza multiple nights, and a milkshake. I also managed to not play basketball once due to the weather being horrible.
Today I spent a bunch of time attempting to catch up to Sean in Guitar Hero 2. I’m still pretty far behind but I have confidence in my rock ability to out rock him. I’ve got the Heroes finale to watch tonight (which better be awesome) and the 24 finale (which will be horrible like the whole season).
Random Stuff
The Golden Compass trailer: I started listening to the audiobooks of the “His Dark Materials” series on the way home from Montreal. It started off kinda slow but I’ve been pretty hooked on it lately. It’s not as good as Harry Potter or anything but you should check out the books if you are looking for something fantasy-ish to read. The trailer looks pretty cool.
Transformers trailer: I wasn’t all that excited for this but the trailer has swayed me. Check the 2 newest trailers out.
Using a loofah: I’ve been trying to use up old soap and shampoo in the basement shower. There has been this liquid body soap that has been in there for a really long time so I started on that first. My first attempt at using it with just my hands was unsuccessful. When I discovered putting the soap on a loofah I was pretty happy. Using a loofah is way easier than using a bar of soap. I imagine the loofah is probably gross and all but I like to ignore that. When I told everyone about my loofah discovery I started to find out that most people don’t even use soap. What’s wrong with you people?
Most of the 2007-08 TV schedule has been decided. Studio 60, Drive, Justice, Smith and Jericho have all been cancelled. Veronica Mars is probably cancelled but we don’t know for sure until June 15 but I don’t think anyone should hold their breath on it. There isn’t much for new shows that look interesting for next year. I think I will give Eli Stone, Big Shots and Heroes: Origins a shot but that’s probably about it.
Facebook. It’s crazy how many people are using this now. It’s like a glorified MySpace and Classmates without all the spam and crap. Go check out the site if you haven’t heard much about it. One thing I don’t understand about facebook is everyone’s wall. I refuse to have a conversation with someone using the wall or inbox. That’s what email or IM is for.

I’ve been using a loofah and body wash for years. I primarily switched because it eliminates soap scum buildup in the shower, i hate how it builds up under where the soap sits. It’s funny because I never clean the bathtub or anything, but it bugs me when soap scum builds up. Anyway the loofah + bodywash is awsome. I was a little surprised when you said you discovered people don’t use soap? I hope this number of people is small, and I hope i never have to sit beside them. Really showering with no soap is just kind of like taking a street bum and adding water.
Good thing you said not to hold your breath waiting for veronica mars or half of north america might have suffocated…..

thanks for the update jeff, i look forward to not needing to talk to you for at least another two weeks.
i also feel the need to stand up for us non soap users. my doctor told me i shouldn’t be using soap, and that’s good enough for me!

I don’t think anyone I talked to uses no soap at all. Most of them rely on the shampoo eventually cleaning them or something and that’s it. I grew up using a bar of soap so using a loofah is a good discovery. I have 23 bars of soap from Costco to finish now though
Veronica Mars was awesome. Well at least season 1 and 2 were pretty good. Season 3 has gone down hill.

I used to use a loofah, many years ago, but stopped. I’m not sure why, but this post has inspired me to get back on the loofah boat.
I am also very surprised by the comment stating that people don’t use soap in the shower. Isn’t that like running the dishwasher with no detergent? What has this world come to?

Ya I don’t care what anybody says, no soap = gross. I guess if you don’t mind BO or having to wear a boat load of deodorant/perfume to mask it, then no soap is ok.
Using shampoo doesn’t count as using soap, unless you are shampooing your entire body. While i may be hairy enough to justify that, i still prefer soap
